One Word

Sometimes I think I have a faulty heart. Not in terms of physically, but that it is weaker than others due to its sensitive nature. It tends to hurt a lot.

Last week, I would have been home visiting my mother, brother, sister, and extended family, whom I haven't seen in well over a year. Because of the pandemic and concerns over travel, I canceled my trip. It hurts.

What hurts do you have today? Are you feeling downplayed in some way by a friend? Has someone forgotten about you? Are you hurting financially, physically, or mentally?

Looking out my window today, I see a beautiful October day. The weekend was gorgeous. I try to concentrate on that, but thoughts of the nearing election, COVID, and other news wants to creep in. How can we concentrate on good and beautiful things of life, parts of our lives that are uplifting, instead of focusing on situations that bring us down?

I have one word. Jesus. When life gets too harsh, Jesus, when you don't feel like singing a new song, Jesus, when you want someone to understand your hurts. Jesus. He does have the whole world in his hands, and he sees your hurting heart. He knows all that we are going through right now, and he understands.

John 3:16 says: For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in Him, shall not perish but have everlasting life.

That's good news: Believer, you are loved, you will not perish, you will have everlasting life. It's in just one word: Jesus. Give Him your hurting heart, your weakness, your emotions, and soon you will feel the weight begin to lift as you trust him more and more.

He is pretty awesome, the lifter of hearts, the strengthening of women and men, the author and finisher of our faith. He is worthy of our trust. For our today's and our tomorrow's, for our narrow paths and our wide ones. For a sensitive hurting heart like yours, and mine. Let's trust Him!
